FUJI's PhilMarine 2025 Exhibition Announcement

MANILA, Philippines — FUJI GRINDING WHEEL announced plans to present grinding and cutting discs for shipbuilding and ship repair at the 10th edition of PhilMarine Expo, alongside local partner PIO-SHIP.

The original announcement focused on abrasive tools for shipyard metalworking and PIO-SHIP's marine engine and auxiliary propulsion offerings. This archive is an exhibition announcement rather than a report of demonstrations or commercial results.

Grinding and Cutting Discs for Shipyard Applications

Shipyard abrasive selection starts with the material, task, grinder, and required finish. Weld removal, steel component cutting, and surface blending require different products. The following links provide related FUJI product information; they do not identify a confirmed list of models demonstrated at the 2025 exhibition.

Shipyard task Product to consider Selection checks
Steel weld removal and metal cleanup Grinding wheels for steel Material approval, wheel size, removal rate, and tool compatibility
Stainless steel component grinding Super W stainless steel grinding discs INOX suitability and contamination requirements for the component
Metal cutting during fabrication and repair Cut-off wheels and cutting products Material, machine, permitted wheel dimensions, and maximum operating speed
Weld blending and surface refinement Grinding and finishing abrasives Required finish, stock removal, and the product's approved use

Match the Wheel to the Machine and Workpiece

Confirm the wheel diameter, thickness, bore, and mounting arrangement. The grinder's maximum spindle speed must not exceed the wheel's marked maximum operating speed. Use the specified guard and follow the tool and abrasive manufacturer's instructions.

A cut-off-only wheel must not be used for face grinding. Rust removal and coating preparation may require different equipment and processes from weld grinding; do not assume one grinding disc is suitable for every hull-maintenance task.

For a practical selection checklist, see how to choose grinding wheels for angle grinders.

Evaluating Abrasives for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair

For repeated production tasks, compare material removal, wheel consumption, working time, and finish using the same workpiece material and equipment. A durable wheel may reduce changes under suitable conditions, but performance depends on the selected specification and operating method.

  • Weld grinding: Compare removal rate and the remaining surface condition.
  • Cutting: Compare cut time, wheel consumption, and cut quality.
  • Production purchasing: Compare abrasive and labor cost per completed task rather than wheel price alone.

Confirm any compliance requirement against the documentation for the exact product. A general reference to Japanese manufacturing standards does not establish certification for every abrasive or application.

PIO-SHIP and the Original Marine Product Announcement

The original announcement named PIO-SHIP as FUJI's local exhibition partner and described planned marine diesel engine and auxiliary propulsion products for compact vessels. These propulsion products are separate from FUJI's abrasive range. Enquiries should specify whether the requirement concerns grinding and cutting consumables or marine propulsion equipment.

Product Enquiries from the Philippines

PhilMarine Expo 2025 has ended, but shipyards, repair contractors, and distributors in the Philippines can contact FUJI about abrasive specifications and application trials. Current availability, delivery arrangements, and any local support should be confirmed with the sales team.

To request a recommendation, provide:

  • Workpiece material and the grinding or cutting task
  • Grinder or cutting machine model and maximum RPM
  • Required wheel diameter, thickness, and bore
  • Expected usage, required finish, and delivery location
  • Current product specification and trial results, if available

Discuss suitable grinding and cutting discs for your shipyard application or ask about samples for evaluation.
